Advertising with BUZZ

Buzz Chattanooga Pedicabs/Advertising What do we do that is different from traditional advertising?

We are mobile media! We are constantly moving all over downtown with our eye catching, head turning yellow pedicabs which travel from the River to Main street and sometimes beyond and from Chestnut street to the Bluff View arts district. We carry roughly 1,700 riders a month in our 6 cabs. All these people plus all the people driving their cars and walking the streets (1/2 million tourists, 50,000 employees and 27,000 residents) can see your advertisement.

Buzz pedicabs actually goes even a couple of steps further than traditional advertising. All of the Licensed drivers are well informed about your business and they communicate information about your business with their passengers, the many tourists and locals out on the street. Then they bring those people right to your door!

Buzz pedicabs take people to parts of the city and to establishments that they would otherwise never know about, never see or never get to!

What other advertisement can do that ?

Buzz pedicab advertising has proven to be a very effective method and it is a fraction of the cost of traditional advertising. Starting at $95 a month

Homecoming 2011 - BaylorSchool.org

We had the most fantastic evening!  The young men and women of the Homecoming Court at Baylor School were polite, well mannered, and super excited about riding in the pedicabs to the presentation of the winning King and Queen.

Rob is our Rock Star - if you don't already have his number, call Buzz at 657-777-BUZZ and we'll send him to you.

For whom do these bells toll?

Can you hear the bells toll the hour?  Can you hear when St. Paul's Episcopal Church bells ring for worship and call to service?  Did you know they have been tolling since 1911 - that is one hundred years!

Congratulations St. Paul's on becoming our newest advertiser!  Go see what they are all about . . .

Great Chattanooga Market

We met tons of people and handed out cards and stickers - if you didn't get one - come by downtown over the weekend and see us - we'll give you one.  Took a bunch of folks to and from their cars, got to hoop it up with HoopTonic, visited with Laughing Girl Jewelry, bought bread from Niedlov's, pasta from Green Market, made our mouth's blue with Italian Ice, got a great sandwich from Yellow Deli, met the Johnson Group folks taking the Choose Downtown Chattanooga pictures, and toured Rufus' Double Decker bus from England.  All, in all, it was a perfect example of how fabulous Chattanooga just IS.  We LOVE Chattanooga.

Chattanooga, what a great town!

Last night was quite a cool variety of pedicabbing.  We took a group of 8 at 6:30p from Big River Grille up 8th Street east to the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  We were expecting more drivers and two of us are definitely not hill certified yet, but working together we made it.  Thor and Jody actually pushed Christina up the final block - that was fun - no pedaling necessary!  We ended up with five drivers out and ran solid with visitors (even a guy named Buzz) and locals alike.  There was a terrific visit from John Reyes of San Antonio River City Peddicabbing Fame - what a neat guy and so helpful.  He did LOVE our new Main Street pedicabs, and said they really are the best.  The drum corp was out - they are truly excellent with at least one professional drummer and one professional nurse.  Also, the Lookouts were playing, so with all this activity, the streets were teeming with people.  Three of us gave up at 10:30p and the other two stayed out to catch the night crowd.  This is an amazing business, and we drivers are all lucky Thor not only thought of it, but took action.

Time flies when you are having fun . . .

Great week, set some new pedicab driver records in terms of passengers!  Nightfall began its 2011 season with a bang - the Dawes were fantastic and post concert, the cabbies were awfully busy with passengers.  You should be seeing us Buzz through the motorcycle garden with some regularity from here on out.
Upcoming - this Wednesday will be the downtown Visitor Center's grand opening.  They relocated to the old Bijou theater lobby space next to Mellow Mushroom and across from Big River Grill and Blue Water so come out around noon and take a pedicab ride around the block.  Remember the rides are always free, please tip your driver.

What a fabulous weekend!

We had the pleasure of taking some of Lauren Alaina Suddeth's church family, Shannon Crider and family, to the parade and concert in Coolidge Park on Saturday.  It was a gorgeous day and we were blessed with clouds to keep back the sun. The cabbies had a wonderful time - particularly crossing the Walnut Street Walking Bridge, although crossing back to the south side was a bit more challenging - that is quite a hill from north to south.  Thanks to the DRIVERS Conner, Lamar, Lauren, Rob & Thor and all the folks who came out to ride in our pedicabs.  CLICK HERE

Lauren Alaina - American Idol Finalist

We are really excited that we have been asked to participate in the downtown Chattanooga parade tomorrow to carry some of Lauren's friends/family.  It is so cool that they knew about us and even called in advance of her winning to ask if we would be available just in case she was a top 3 finalist.  Join us tomorrow on the north shore and welcome Lauren home!  To like Lauren, please visit her Facebook page.

A special thanks goes out to Inspector Topping for allowing Lauren's family/friends to use the pedicabs to cross the Walnut Street bridge for this special event since otherwise some family members may not be able to participate due to physical constraints.

UPDATE - parade has again changed due to traffic, timing issues, and the American Idol production crew, we will be taking those family/friends across the bridge before the parade and down into the park to watch the performance, then back across the bridge in a hurry so they can make the timing to line up for the Fort Oglethorpe parade.  It is going to be an awesome day!

Who drives pedicabs?

In the coming weeks, we will be doing a biography about each of our drivers. It is important to us that you know and trust your pedicab driver.

The criteria to become a driver are stringent!
Drivers must be over 21 years old, have a valid US driver's license, must pass a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (like the FBI only state) background check, must pass a Department of Transportation physical, must have a clean drug and alcohol screening, and must be approved by the City of Chattanooga's Transportation Board. In addition to those legal requirements, we train drivers on the road for a minimum of 8 hours before allowing them to drive without supervision (unless of course, they have extensive pedicabbing experience from another city). We also have a driver's manual, originally developed by Johnny Brown, grandfather of Chattanooga pedicabbing, that drivers are required to read and sign off on after their initial training period.

We are having a lot of fun, but we also take pedicabbing very seriously when it comes to safety.

Buzz Pedicabs - Loving Downtown!

Tonight was awesome - we had five cabbies on the street, on a Thursday no less.  It was a great Lookout's Baseball event and tons of local residents as well as visitors having dinner and hanging out downtown.  Cannot wait for live performers on Broad Street between Third and Fourth tomorrow - the World Premier of Water For Elephants staring Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson and Christoph Waltz is Friday in our town starting at 6pm.  Come to downtown Chattanooga, but park and take a pedicab - the streets are already blocked in front of the Majestic 12 Theater.  Call 657-777-BUZZ (2899) for a ride or Catch A Buzz - the bright yellow and black logo is easily recognizable.

GREEN!!

Go green - Earth Week/Earth Day events are on. We are excited about all the terrific activities this weekend downtown and on the north shore! You can visit Grow Chattanooga to get a schedule. Jeff Styles is talking about really cool Earth Day stuff on WGOW including Hang Gliding and our friends John & Dale Stokes with S.O.A.R. South on 102.3 this morning from PSCMetals. We appreciate all that is going on. Come downtown and join us!

Transportation Board Meeting

So excited - this afternoon at the monthly Transportation Board Meeting we had two more drivers approved.  Tonight we were three on the street, moving the people through downtown!  We are having such a great time meeting people and showing off our powerfully fabulous city.  Scored a couple of parking spots too from Republic Parking today - great rates monthly in the North Carta lot (yes, that's the building where our cabs live).  Overall, a wonderful day!  We'll start introducing our new cabbies one at a time with great bios and photos - stay tuned.

Friday, April 8, 2011

What a GREAT night!

We had four pedicabbers on the road downtown for the home opener of the Chattanooga Lookouts Baseball team, and it was awesome!  Tons of people downtown on a Thursday and very busy drivers.  We ferried people to dinner, to a movie, back to their hotel, and just for some joy rides.  Several of us stayed out past nine just as the game was ending and took folks to their cars - a welcome ride!

Busy week!

UPDATE - We are sad to report that Hiroshi's has closed their doors.  However, that means cab space for your business if you'd like!

We have another new advertiser, thanks Hiroshi!  Hiroshi's on the Southside will be appearing on a Buzz Pedicab soon.  We are excited to work with a restauranteur whom we have long admired (and eaten LOTS of sushi).  Easy to reach location at 114 Main Street on the south side between Market and Broad Streets.  Hiroshi & Deb are terrific folks and we hope you'll visit them for a bite of sushi!  With lunch and dinner specials, you can eat at the sushi bar or grab a quiet table in a corner.  Go eat sushi today and tell them BUZZ sent you!

Need carb loading?

Ok, so after a long day of pedaling (or a couple of hours), what do you crave?
CARBS
Love Lupi's take-away pizza - whole wheat crust either Hawaiian with Anchovies or spinach, sun dried tomatoes, feta, avacado, and ham - either way, it's good stuff! Stop by and get some.

Another driver

Chris bridges has joined the ranks of a Chattanooga licensed pedicab driver. He And his family came down to check out the operation on Sunday and Thor took the family around the block to show them what it was all about. Chris returned the next day with all his COMPLETED paperwork in hand! He will be riding/training with us this Friday and Saturday night.

Buzz has officially started limited operation

Buzz has officially started limited operatons on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 pm until as late as we need to pedal.    As we get more drivers trained and through the certification process the operating hours will increase by days and hours.  The overwhelming positive response to the limited operations is very exciting !

It's the legs, baby!

What an evening downtown!  There were tons of folks on the streets, between Chestnut, Broad & Market from the River & TNAquarium down to the Chattanoogan.  We even took a visitor here for the Zoo & Aquarium Mid-Year Meeting to Alleia (yum!).  A fun night was had by all - LOVED the kids and dogs.  We carried folks from Anniston and Birmingham and Florcence (AL not Italy) and Sweetwater and Nashville and Buckhead.  Great time was had by all, especially us!

Atlanta's Traffic Queen Visits Chattaboogie!!

Secret agent, Monica Luck, undercover to evaluate Chattanooga's traffic has deemed pedicabs 'the ideal way to travel'.

"Leave your car, and come pedicab it," she said after her downtown tour.  The best way to see all the touristic things between the River and Main Street is from the back of a pedicab.
Film at 11.

Parking?

Parking at Unum no longer free?  With limited service downtown, and increasing service with a bit better weather (think sun versus floods and warm versus snow), we try to keep track of what's going on downtown to better serve our customers.  Perhaps you'd like to park somewhere free on the southside and catch a ride - just give us a call 657-777-BUZZ (2899)

I'm the only Chattanooga Birthday girl who got this prize yesterday!

I met Thor about 11:20 downtown and he drove me via Pedicab to Hiroshi's where Jason Boland, Cornerstone Insurance Group, met us and bought us lunch!  It was a busy day, but this was a great break for about an hour.  Bijou to Hiroshi's on Main St - less than 15 minutes via pedicab.

A hamster, a Dachshund, the 2nd St. hill and $18 an hour

Carl and Thor went out and rode last night The first fares asked Thor " how much to take us to our car?" Standard reply, we pedal for tips ! They got in the cab and Thor asks, where's your car?  He points up the 2nd street hill and says "Up that hill and over 2 blocks" And away we went (Carl transferred 1 of the passengers to his cab).  The teenage girls were very encouraging going up the hill coaching " your are almost there, you can make it, this is fun!"

A short time later, We took a family with luggage and a hamster to the Hilton Garden in, and another family of 6 and the Dachshund from the convention center to the Aquarium and did a little pedicab challenge on the way to make it more fun.   After this run we took a break and decided to call it a night.

Ended up making some good money, had a ton of fun, met some cool people and of course the beer at Big River was excellent after work.

Two cabs working together is definitely the way to go, if not we would not have been able to take the 2 families at all.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

Yahoooooo!! They're here!

We are soooooo excited.  Today a truck from Old Dominion Freight Line rolled up Chestnut Street and Jack and his fellow driver helped us unload five brand new yellow pedicabs.  They look terrific!  Thanks Tamara & Steve and all the folks at Main Street Pedicabs.  We will be "rolling them out" in March 2011.  You can find us near the new Visitor's Center at Broad Street near the Aquarium and Mellow Mushroom and Big River Grille.  Call us at 657-777-BUZZ (2899) for more information.

Driver's Wanted . . .

We put an advertisement in the classified section of the Chattanooga Times Free Press and lo and behold, guess what happened?  Our email "buzzzzed" off the hook!  (ok Thor was right about this one!)  We've had a number of qualified drivers apply and it looks like we're moving quickly ahead.  It is exciting to see the variety of people from all walks of life, all ages (above 21 of course), all backgrounds, and all types of current employment who want to drive a pedicab for a living, part or full time.  Pretty cool job - you are self employed, become a professional, licensed pedicab driver through the City of Chattanooga, then you keep what you make.  Email us at BuzzChattanooga at gmail dot com if you are interested.

Almost ready!!

Ok - they were waiting on ONE
final part and it's there
(in Colorado) and they are
packing up the pedicabs
for shipping.  We are
soooo excited!  And on another note . . .
Attending the first Greater Chattanooga Hospitality Association luncheon of 2011 today, I was thrilled to meet some interesting folks and hear about what's going on in the hospitality industry.  What a neat group of people.  Greg Adkins of the TN Hospitality Association spoke and I certainly learned a lot.  Chattanooga is doing a terrific job hosting visitors to our fair city.  Maybe you know someone who'd like to have a meeting, group, family reunion or convention here?  Visit ChattanoogaFun.com or BringMyMeeting.com and check it out!

Amazing morning

I'm excited about my morning meeting - I was delighted to visit with 11 of the folks at the Chattanooga Convention and Visitors Bureau.  They were helpful, insightful, and excited about the Pedicab Service here in Chattanooga.  The more I learn about our wonderful city (ok, so I've only been here since 1992), the more I LOVE it.  The people who live here really care about what happens, how it happens, and how it impacts everything.  It's going to be great to see what happens next.

Drivers, drivers, drivers!

Last night was fun - we met at the Terminal Brewhouse and got to know a little about a few more of the folks that may drive for us.  If you are interested in driving, please call 657-777-2899 or email us.

We were also excited to have Johnny Brown - grandfather of Chattanooga Pedicabbing - join us for a bite.  It was interesting to hear from him directly about what it is like on the streets - pedicabbing that is.  We are greatful to Johnny for all his support and for him paving the way with the city ordinance.

It was a great evening, capped off by an email from Tamara at MainStreetPedicabs with some photos of the bikes being assembled!  Looks like we'll get them into Chattanooga late next week - YAHOOO!!

Sunday, January 16, 2011

Meet & Greet!

Hey y'all, watch this!  Just kidding, we're going to have an informational visit at Terminal Brewhouse on Market Street, just north of Main by the Choo Choo.  Anyone interested in 'driving' a pedicab or in advertising or in bicycles or, well, you get the idea, please join us on Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 at 5:30p upstairs at the Terminal.  We'll be talking about the pedicab business and how it is coming to Chattanooga downtown!  We'd love for you to join us.  Meanwhile, please check out our FB page - you can just click the link to the right here ----->>>>

We already own one in white and have ordered five more.  These cabs are elegant with a little yellow pizzazz.  Here's a photograph from MainStreetPedicabs in Colorado where they are being custom built for us.  Thanks to Tamara, Steve and the crew for all their help during this process!
