Mindy B's deli Joins force with Buzz Chattanooga
For Immediate Release: June 28, 2012 Contact: Mindy Benton, 423-605-4480 Mindy.B.Deli@gmail.com
Mindy B’s Deli & Buzz Pedicabs Join Forces: Lunch Delivery
Chattanooga, TN (June 28, 2012) - Two locally owned small businesses are partnering to offer a unique downtown service. Mindy B’s Deli (828 Georgia Ave) and Buzz Chattanooga Pedicabs have joined forces to offer lunchtime delivery. There will be a driver stationed at Mindy B’s Deli Monday through Friday from 11am to 2pm dedicated to getting fresh local fare to you in a jiffy.
The delivery area includes Lindsey Street (just behind Mindy B’s) to Chestnut Street and from the Riverfront to Main Street. Both businesses will use social media to let followers know daily that the service is available. Customers call Mindy B’s Deli at 521-7932, place their order, and pay by phone. The filled order will be handed off to a Buzz Pedicab driver who will then deliver lunch to your door for tips only.
What is in it for the two businesses? For Mindy B’s Deli, it is providing a service they have been unable to offer due to staffing. For Buzz Chattanooga Pedicabs it is exposure. “It’s a win, win situation for both of us” says Chef Mindy. “We are excited to be out more during lunchtime, increase our advertisers’ exposure, and offer a green, downtown delivery service,” says Thor of Buzz Chattanooga Pedicabs.
“Buzz drivers work only for tips, so we ask that our customers treat them well, and remember they saved you a trip in this Chattanooga heat!” says Chef Mindy. The goal is for orders to be made and delivered within 30 minutes. Of course this depends on the size of the order and the volume of in-store customers. “Luckily we will be able to give the caller some idea of delivery time when they place their order.” says Chef Mindy.
Want to win lunch for 4 and be the very first Mindy B’s Buzz delivery? Visit Buzz Chattanooga Pedicabs on Facebook or Twitter between now and 3pm on Wednesday, July 4th. Tell them why you and three friends deserve to win a free lunch from Mindy B’s Deli and have it Buzzed to your door (in designated delivery area). The most creative answer will be chosen on July 4th. All entries become the property of Buzz Pedicabs and Mindy B’s Deli.
Service will begin July 5th, so check Mindy B’s Deli Facebook Page for the menu and specials and give them a call to get lunch delivered to your door! For more information about Mindy B’s Deli contact Mindy Benton at 423-521-7932 or Mindy.B.Deli@gmail.com. Our 71st Post - Riverbend 2012
It was a fabulous time this year. Passengers loved it, drivers are worn out, and advertisers got quite the bang for their buck - basically a month's worth in a week. We loved RIVERBEND2012 and hope you did too. Here are a few photographs from the week.

The very hard working drivers also work for tips (please be generous, they provide a great service). The above listed times are only a guideline. We can not guarantee that drivers will be available at the above listed times. We have in the past, however, found that these hours represent the realistic times that most drivers are out and about.
Buzz Chattanooga Pedicab service is also supported by advertisers. Businesses put ads on the cabs and the drivers talk about those businesses to the passengers. If you are interested in advertising or know anyone who is, please call us.

Convention and Visitors Bureau reports uptick in tourism
David Laprad
Despite the depressed economy, the launch of a competing aquarium in Atlanta, Ga., and the lack of new tourism product in the city in recent years, the number of people visiting Chattanooga is rising. This has led to a spike in hotel tax revenues that almost doubles the national average... Steve Genovesi, vice president of sales and marketing at the Chattanooga Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, makes it his job to understand the ups and downs of local tourism, and believes he knows why the Scenic City is hosting so many out-of-towners: not only is Chattanooga a wonderful place to visit, it’s an easy place to sell.
“More and more people are telling us they’re coming to Chattanooga to experience the whole community, so while they’re here, they take in the Aquarium, ride a Pedicab and go to Lookout Mountain.”
In the end, tourism benefits everyone who lives in Chattanooga, Genovesi says, especially homeowners, who save hundreds of dollars a year in property taxes thanks to the economic impact of tourism, according to a study the Bureau commissioned from a University of Tennessee at Chattanooga professor.

Order to Install - Only 7 Hours
Ok, so we normally don't work QUITE that fast, but yesterday, apparently St. Paul's had a hand in and/or had some pull with all the forces in the universe. We went from concept meeting (of course they already had their art work ready), to signatures, to order the signs, to pick them up, to installation in less than seven hours. Amazing!
And we think it looks pretty terrific too so we put it on two cabs instead of one. What do YOU think?
And we think it looks pretty terrific too so we put it on two cabs instead of one. What do YOU think?
so you want to drive a pedicab?
Are you 21 years or older, do you have a valid US driver's license? Do you have $132 and a day or so to devote to getting licensed?
Second - since we carry the public around in our cabs, the City of Chattanooga requires that we be licensed, in a manner similar to automobile taxi drivers (see steps below)
- To get that license, first you will need a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) background check ($29)
- Next, a full DOT physical with drug and alcohol screening, we recommend Physician's Care at Hamilton Place Mall - they've agreed to a discounted rate for potential Buzz Chattanooga Pedicab drivers - just tell them you are self pay, with Buzz, and need the full DOT physical with drug and alcohol screen ($93)
- Then, fill out the driver application for the City and have it notarized and approved by Thor or Christina
- Next, assemble the results of TBI, DOT Physical, Application and a check to the City for $10 and have Thor or Christina deliver the package to the Transportation Inspector
- Then, get out on the road for training - at least eight hours (unless you are some kind of pedicab prodigy)
- Finally, appear at the City of Chattanooga Transportation Board Meeting on the first Tuesday of the month for your license approval vote - the Board votes to approve new drivers

Another new advertiser - WELCOME GOOD DOG
So late last week, another advertiser saw the great benefits and small investment associated with advertising on our Buzz Chattanooga Pedicabs. GOOD DOG joins us from the Northshore at Coolidge Park with the side of three cabs. We did a bit of design work, had a FANTASTIC bite to eat and got busy ordering the clings.
In the meantime, our new digital advertising partners at 423Market said, "Hey, let's put together a digital ad for them to run over the weekend, just as a bonus you know!". Well we certainly agreed (they do, after all, have amazing dogs - all their buns are from Niedlov's on Main Street, all ingredients are fresh and local, and even their sausages and bratwurst are hand crafted at their store!)
So, Chattanooga, join us in welcoming GOOD DOG!

2012 looks exciting for Buzz !!
2011 was the launch of BUZZ. When we started we could hardly even get people to ride in the cabs. By the end of the season we had people standing in line waiting for a cab to return to the visitor center ! We took visitors and locals all over the city!
New additional advertisers for 2012 coming soon! Currently working with several new advertisers, check back soon for more details.
We had several very cool advertisers sign up last year such as: Chattanooga bakery has advertised on all 6 cabs and has provided BUZZ with mini Moon pies to hand out to the tourists! They make 1 million Moon pies a day right here in Chattanooga ! www.moonpie.com Other advertisers include - www.derryberrypr.com,
www.chattanoogacabins.com, www.stpaulschatt.homestead.com, www.realestatecenterplus.remax-tennessee.com, www.growchattanooga.org just to name a few. Grow Chattanooga also gave us rack cards, of local eateries that support local farmers, to hand out and is also advertising some of these restaurants on our cabs, such as Niko's, Taco Mamasita, Easy Bistro, and one other I can't remember right now.
There is still plenty of room for more advertisers, Call for details 657-777-buzz (2899)
